• Sunderland Children Protest March for Road Safety!

    Published on: Monday 28 November 2011 10:03

Children from Richard Avenue Primary School in Sunderland staged a protest against drivers who drive dangerously outside the school gates.

"The children, along with their teachers, fear that unless road safety outside the school is improved, it is only a matter of time before a child is injured or killed."

They are also protesting for the speed limit outside there school to be reduced to 20mph!

I hope that 20s Plenty for Sunderland will be able to help them succeed in making this happen as well as raise awareness about the campaigns aims for mandatory, default 20mph speed limits in residential areas.

We also hope that this will raise awareness in other communities and gain the support of schools throughout Sunderland.

We also want to introduce the importance of "20mph zones" rather than individual speed limits but we understand that every small victory will help the campaign to flourish throughout Sunderland.

Its great to see children fighting for something they believe in and i hope we can ignite that passion further!

We are currently in contact with Richard Avenue Primary School and hopefully we will be able to collaborate in the near future.
